Minister Taf (Tafari), born and raised in Jamaica, is a Gospel Reggae Artiste, songwriter, and author, who has gradually built a name for himself on the UK scene through his uplifting sound and passion for what he does. Minister Taf’s passion was to become a professional football player and had not envisioned himself working in the music industry. A talented footballer at the age of 16 he was selected to attend a trial for Jamaica U17. Sadly, that trial never took place. He has won many football medals and trophies over the years.
After arriving in the UK in 2009, he went on trials for Barnet FC while they were in league 2, but he did not make the team. After hearing the voice of God regarding pursuing music in 2012, Minister Taf has not stopped since. He first started out rapping, and gradually found his craft on the reggae scene. Awards In 2016, he was interviewed by MOBO (Music of Black Origin) and won Best Gospel Reggae Act at the Praisetek Gospel Music Award. In 2017 he won best Reggae/Caribbean Sound Music Video at the Jump Release Music Video Award.
In 2019, he released his debut Gospel reggae album titled “LIFE” which featured Becca Folkes, Tanesha, Andrew Bello, Fiona Yorke, and Emmanuel Smith. The album was featured in the Jamaican newspaper “The Star,” and played on several local and international radio stations. Studio Releases Minister Taf later followed up in June 2021 with his EP titled “Ena Minyma” which is Greek for “A Message.” The EP featured Fiona Yorke and produced by Jvmmie Jae. The EP has garnered rave reviews, securing interviews with local and international radio stations, and recently featured in the September 2021 addition of the Jamaican newspaper “The Star”. To date, Minister Taf has recorded 6 studio projects.
His latest studio project is a 12-track album entitled ‘Different’, released 30th June 2023. Media Coverage Minister Taf was also featured in Keep the Faith Magazine (UK) in 2019 and on TVJ (Television Jamaica) during their E-Prime program. The song “Tan A Yuh Yaad” was aired on the program and on Smile Jamaica Morning Time (Television Jamaica) in 2020. His music has also been played on BBC 1xtra, Premier Gospel radio (UK), Hot 97FM New York, 99.9 Kiss FM (Abuja, Nigeria), Salt TV (Uganda), Love 101FM (Jamaica) and Backyard Live TV (Kenya).
On Stage He has graced the same stage with local artistes, such as MOBO award winners Guvna B, Volney Morgan & New-Ye, Triple O, Lurine Cato and Isaiah Raymond & Co. International acts such as DJ Nicholas, Jason Mighty, Datin (USA), and “The Voice UK” semi-finalist Emmanuel Smith. Book Author In the severity of the pandemic May 2020 Minister Taf debuted as an author releasing an inspirational read entitled “Encouragement”, penned to encourage, uplift, and give hope.
